S.T.E.M Program

The Cultural Enrichment Center’s S.T.E.M. program is a unique initiative designed to inspire and empower middle and high school African American students. It stands out by integrating science, technology, engineering, and mathematics into a culturally rich and academically supportive framework.
This program not only connects participants with the legacy of African American innovators and pioneers in S.T.E.M. fields but also fosters a sense of pride and belonging. It equips students with the skills and knowledge to excel in these disciplines, making it a one-of-a-kind opportunity for aspiring young scientists and engineers.
Through hands-on projects, mentorship opportunities, and collaborative learning, students will explore core S.T.E.M. concepts while drawing connections to history, literature, and the arts. Sustainable Energy

EMPOWERED SOL/CEC
Empowered Sol is committed to making renewable energy accessible to marginalized families by installing low-cost solar systems. This initiative aims to reduce energy costs for low-income households while promoting environmental sustainability. Additionally, Empowered Sol will offer a paid internship to youth of color, providing on-the-job training and the potential for job placement upon completion. This internship will equip the intern with valuable skills and experience in the renewable energy sector, fostering diversity and inclusion within the industry. Receiving grant funding is not just important; it is crucial to implementing this collaboration. The funds will cover the costs of solar system installations, ensuring that families do not bear the financial burden. Moreover, the grant will support the paid internship program, allowing Empowered Sol to offer competitive wages and comprehensive training. This financial support is not just a boost; it is a lifeline enabling the company to focus on delivering high-quality installations and mentorship without compromising on resources. The most significant gaps in capacity that this funding would help fill are the financial resources needed for equipment and labor, and the ability to provide a robust training program for the intern. With grant funding, Empowered Sol can bridge these gaps, ensuring the successful execution of our mission to empower marginalized communities through renewable energy and workforce development. Grant funding is not just a support; we must bridge these gaps and succeed in our mission. Your support is crucial and urgent. 2. 3. We anticipate this program will benefit approximately 15-20 individuals directly, including families receiving solar systems and the intern. Empowered Sol plans to establish partnerships with local organizations and continuously seek additional funding to ensure the program is ongoing. Outreach efforts will include community events, social media campaigns, and collaboration with local schools and community centers to reach a larger audience and maximize impact. We have developed relationships with county and city services to expand our program to benefit families with barriers to receiving renewable energy. We plan to create educational programs with the county to explore how we, as a community, can give the tools needed for the most marginalized in our community to become stewards of sustainable energy and climate awareness. 4. Our parent organization, the Cultural Enrichment Center of Fort Collins, ‘s “Start where you stand” motto perfectly aligns with this initiative. It emphasizes empowering individuals to expand their possibilities while supporting their community. Focusing on community support from within, this program aims to create a ripple effect that will benefit future generations. The hope is that the intern, once trained and employed, will continue to contribute to their community, inspiring others to follow a similar path.
