Testimonials

HEAR FROM OUR MEMBERS

One of the most impactful aspects of the CEC is how it supported my son’s dreams. When he joined the center, there was an animation class that helped him nurture his passion for animation. This class solidified his dream of becoming an animator, and even after the teacher left, the CEC went above and beyond to provide him with a computer equipped with animation software so he could continue his journey.

I’ve consistently seen young people grow in remarkable ways. It’s clear that the CEC provides more than just programming; it fosters an environment where Black youth feel genuinely valued and empowered.

I have yet to find another place that offers such a comprehensive and caring environment for Black youth. The CEC has been an invaluable resource, not only for my son’s personal growth but also for our sense of stability and support in this new community.  Thank you for all the work you do to empower and uplift young people. We are forever grateful.

The CEC is a bright spot in our community. Watching the kids thrive and grow into young adults with the education, guidance, and support from the CEC staff is simply inspirational. The Center provides a safe and empowering space where these young people can embrace their identities and develop into confident, resilient individuals.

This CEC cannot simply be described as an after-school program; it is a home away from home. I have witnessed firsthand how the kids go from being stressed after a day in a community where they cannot fully express their needs and concerns without needing to explain themselves, to becoming fully relaxed, able to communicate with ease, and filled with joy and laughter. The CEC truly serves as both a mental and physical haven for these young people.
